Rosalie Hale lived the the 1920s to the 1930s and knew from when she was young how beautiful she was. When she was 19, her fiancee bashed and raped her, leaving her in the street to die. If it wasn't for Carlisle Cullen, she would have died there.
She was intended to be a wife for Edward Anthony Mason Cullen, though he showed no intrest in her which highly irritated her. Instead, one day she found Emmett in the woods, wounded by a bear, she took pity on him and took him back to Carlisle to be changed for her and to this day they are happily married and get remarried every move.
She does not like Bella Swan because Edward did not see her as good enough for him but now he is with Bella even though her beauty is much greater than Bellas.
