Cruising through the streets of Forks, Washington was a great way to spend his day. Nothing very important has happened in Forks since the big disappearances a few months back so everything appeared calm. The windows of his cruiser were down as he listened quietly to the radio. The cool air reached his face, though it wasn't as cold as it would have been in anything but the Summer. He thought of how he would spend every summer with Bella, and now he wouldn't be able to. She was off on some island with her new husband.
She was no longer Isabella Swan but Bella Cullen and it sent horrible aches through his body. He longed for Bella to come back though he knew it was impossible. She was no a part of the Cullen family, no matter how much he tried to fight it. She would eventually have children with Edward, small little Bella's and Edward's running around. He smiled at the thought of being a grandfather though it made him shutter at the same time.
A call on his radio gave way to his thoughts. A small girl was found stealing from a small art shop in the shopping district of Forks. Since there was nothing else for him to do, Charlie set off towards it. Because the thief was just a child, he didn't go above the speed limit or set on his sirens. The wind started whipping through the window, catching his short hair and bring it around his face. This reminded him that he needed a haircut.
Soon he made it to the store and stepped out of his cruiser, fixing his jacket and pants as he walked towards the store entrance. The store clerk lead him towards the back room after a quick welcome. When he got there, small eyes stared up at him through a curtain of hair. He smiled and crouched so he was eye level.

Nina had decided that it was finally time for her to begin writing again no matter how bad the memories it brought back were. She had came to a small town. Forks, Washington in the USA. She liked America, it had so many nice forests and small little towns where everyone knew everyone else but it also had big cities that were so pretty with their bright fluorescent light and tall skyscrapers. This was a great country but she still loved a lot of Europeon countries better. She had travelled all over Europe before coming to America. She thought this town would be a good place to pick up some writing supplies and the best shop she could find was a small art store. She knew it would be easy to steal stuff with her ability to make herself invisible.
She snuck into the shop by jumping in through an opening in the roof and searched until the found what she wanted. She had trouble deciding what to get though. Why did therehave to be so many pens to choose from? She got angry as she looked at the many choices. As she got angry, she stopped concentrating on keeping herself invisible but didn't even notice that she was visible to everyone now. She decided on a couple of pens and stuffed them into her jean pockets then walked over to where the notebooks were but before she could do that the store owner was tapping on her shoulder.
"Empty your pockets, mam." he told her and she knew that she wasn't invisible, she also knew it wouldn't be smart to make herself invisible again right now so she emptied her pockets and sighed, she was going to act like a kid since she looked like one and hopefully that would help her avoid any trouble. "Come with me," she followed him to the back room with a look of cute sadness on her face. I'm sorry sir, I didn't know I was doing anything wrong." The store owner just shook his head and called the police.
About 5 minutes later a policeman walked into the room and Nina looked up at him with sad little eyes, going along with her 'I'm just a kid' act. She wished she coud fake cry but she was just going to have to stick with acting really sad and sorry. "Sorry," she mumbled. "Mr, I didn't think I was doing anything wrong, I hadn't been taught that stealing was wrong, I'm sorry..." she made her voice crack and sound as if she was about to cry. The shop owner walked out of the room as a group of women came into the shop and he closed the door to the back room as he walked out.

Charlie sighed, looking over as the little girls eyes were revealed. They stared out and it made the hairs on his neck stand up. His eyes widened, but only slightly. Unrationally, he was afraid. Something about this child made him want to run, want to hide or even bring out his gun that was in his belt. He shook his head. He couldn't get the image of her completely black eyes, staring at him. Black like the night, like death coming to sweep him and his life up. He shook his head once more.
"We're going to have to call your parents." He said in as steady of a voice he could handle. He thought of Bella, with her now off colored brown eyes, pale skin and beautiful baby. This little girl resembled the Cullens, in so many ways but was so different in the same ways. He looked back at her, his eyes suspicious.

Nina noticed as the police man saw her eyes. They were black because she hadn't hunted in so long, if it wasn't for the control she had gained in her three hundred years of life she would have killed both the store owner and police man by now, as well as any other customers in the shop. She had gained enough control though so that she could go into shops and try to blend in with the humans on occasion. She really did need to go hunting soon though or she may not be able to keep her control much longer. As he said he'd have to call her parents she panicked a little. Maybe she could say she was homeless with no parents but then they'd put her in an orphanage or foster home and she didn't want that.
She acted like she was scared, and hoped that the idea forming in her mind would work. She knew where the local vampire coven lived and she could say that she was staying with them, that her parents were on holidays and the... Cullen's, thats the name, were looking after her. She smiled at the plan, it might just work, if the coven would be nice and pretend that she was telling the truth. She had no idea how vampires treated other vamps because of her lack of socializing so she hoped they were nice to each other. "My parents are on holiday and I'm staying with the Cullen's," she said, continuing to stare at the police man because she could easily see that her eyes were creeping him out.
