Carlisle realized that it had only been a few weeks, and that a few weeks was like a blink of the eye when you were a vampire, but that was long enough. Things in the house needed to change, starting with Bree's behavior. He needed to make sure that she could control her hunger, that she could control her urdge to kill the humans, more importantly Bella. What had happened earlier between the two was unnacceptable. She could have killed her if Edward hadn't stepped in!
But as usual, Carlisle kept that calm and collective face. He knew that he needed to approach this situation with a clear head. He had been the one to offer her a new life and therefore he was the main one who needed to help teach her their ways. Starting with going off to hunt animals.
Carlisle looked up at the sky, it was a particularly cloudy day, pretty good for hunting in his eyes. The two had been hunting before, but they mostly went in groups to make sure Bree did not stray off the path. He wasnt quite sure how he was going to teach her everything but, he was going to try.
He stood in the backyard of the Cullen house, waiting for her to come so they could get to buisness, there were so many things to learn and he wanted to do it in a short amount of time but he wasnt sure that it would be possible. Maybe he expected to much out of this kid? Carlisle sighed. And brought his hand up to squeeze his temples, like he was getting a headache, which he really couldnt get. He watched the area around him, searching fro any type of movement

- - - - - - - - ❧ - - - - - - - - • • • • • we are just M I S G U I D E D G H O S T S - - - - - - - - ❧ - - - - - - - - Bree was ashamed of herself as she made her way to the Cullens' backyard. That was twice now that she'd lost it. First when she and Bella were confronted by Fred, and now when she was just thirsty. Thankfully Bella was not in the Cullen house at the moment, so Bree could breathe freely without having to be petrified of killing someone.
Bree was thirsty, and that meant hunting. Not preying on the druggies and strippers that she was used to. Today she was going to hunt the vegetarian way. She knew that animal blood was no where near as filling as human blood, but it was the only way she stay with her new friends. Carlisle had promised Jane and the other members of the Volturi that she'd learn the Cullen way, so Bree had to have yellow eyes by the time they visited again. It was either become a veggie vamp or die a second time. She didn't want to disappoint Carlisle again.
Bree could smell Carlisle's trial and followed it easily to where he was standing in the backyard, his hands on his temples. Vampires couldn't get headaches, could they? Just because she hadn't experienced it before didn't mean it was impossible. Bree was used to hunting in a group, she'd even been sent out in groups while she was part of the army, but today it was just one on one with Carlisle. She didn't know what it would be like to talk to him alone.
"Good morning." she said when she reached Carlisle, her voice thick with nerves and anxiety.

Carlisle could tell from Bree's voice that she was nervous, but whether it be the hunting with Carlisle or fear of reprimand for her actions earlier. Carlisle realized that if it weren't for Bree, Bella could have been seriously harmed .Yes she lost her control in the end but at least at first she was on their side, trying to protect Bella as best she could, and that counted for something in Carlisle's eyes. Edward may have had a fit, but three things were important, one at least Bree was trying to control her thirst around Bella, two Bella and Bree were becoming friends and three, Bree seemed to be sticking to the all vegetarian diet.
“Good morning” Carlisle replied, in a friendly manner , giving her a smile that was supposed to say 'hey I wont bite' , ahh the irony in that statement. “Are you ready to go hunting?” he said in an excited tone, It had been about a week and a half since he himself had truly went hunting and yet he still was not really feeling the effects, the benefits of living for hundreds of years. He took a deep breath in, smelling all the possible creatures around them . “you know I would first like to say, you are doing a wonderful job. I know the transition is hard, but I think, for the sake of everyone in this household, You have been doing well. Im already so proud of you” He smiled and started walking into the woods, “But now, let me show you how we vegetarians do it” he laughed, he really felt more carefree, being with another young one. It was like he needed to relive his youth, which wasn't a very happy one with him trying to rid himself of well himself. This was like another opportunity like it was with all of his children.

- - - - - - - - ❧ - - - - - - - - • • • • • we are just M I S G U I D E D G H O S T S - - - - - - - - ❧ - - - - - - - - Bree looked down at her feet and started twiddling her fingers a bit. She really had no idea what Carlisle would say, whether he'd be outraged, disappointed, sad... He most definitely shouldn't be proud of her after the events at Port Angeles.
Bree looked up at Carlisle, but felt that she couldn't look him directly in the eye. She kept averting her gaze to the things around him, flickering around every few seconds, for she was too ashamed to meet his gaze.
When the compassionate blonde vampire said good morning back, Bree looked up sheepishly and saw Carlisle give her a reassuring smile, as if he thought she was afraid of him. Bree gave him a small smile back, before her eyes darted to the ground again. She wasn't afraid, she was petrified of the consequences of her actions that night. At least Carlisle didn't look angry or disappointed... yet.
Bree nodded when Carlisle asked if she was ready to hunt, extremely nervous in comparison with his carefree excited tone. Carlisle had gone hunting - veggie style - for who knows how many centuries. Bree had gone three times, each time with a group of the Cullens rather than just one.
Carlisle spoke again, and Bree's heart clenched as he began his sentence. Here it comes... she thought, wating for Carlisle to say about how reckless it was to sneak off with Bella, and she didn't even tell anyone. Bree looked at Carlisle in shock when he said she was doing well. Did he not know what happened? He then said he was proud of her, and Bree's dead heart warmed (all in her head, of course). She would have blushed if she could.
"Umm, thanks Carlisle." Bree said, still not knowing if Carlisle was just saying those things to make her feel better. He began walking into the woods, and Bree followed after him, keeping up easily.
"So what's on the menu today?" Bree asked lightly, trying to avert her mind from how nervous she was.

Carlisle smiled at Bree. She still looked very nervous and he wished that he could get rid of that feeling right now, he actually thought about going to get Jasper and having him come out here and calm her down... But no that wasn't right, he didn't need any special mood enhancer thing to control her, he could handle her all by himself.... Gosh in Carlisle mind that sounded dirty. He didn't know what was wrong with him but he felt giggly. Carlisle looked around him. There were some Elk around... maybe a lion or something like that. But he didn't think they would get that lucky tonight.
“Um probably some Elk. Sorry Bree but I don't smell much else” Carlisle smiled and started running. He was still fast after all these years, but that was just the vampire in him. He wasn't nearly as fast as Edward was. And Bree could probably beat him in a foot race any day, because she was a newborn. “So first lesson is that you need to hunt, without losing control. I know it sounds weird and difficult now but, if there is a human nearby when you are trying to hunt, you need to get out of the area. Go hunt somewhere else”
Carlisle was talking while he was running, the trees rushing by, They went far away from civilization, and he double checked to make sure there was no body around, just in case. He didn't want to test her to much. “So im going to trust you, let your senses go... what do you smell?”

- - - - - - - - ❧ - - - - - - - - • • • • • we are just M I S G U I D E D G H O S T S - - - - - - - - ❧ - - - - - - - - Bree grimaced when Carlisle said there would only be elk. Herbivores weren't very appetising in comparison to human blood. It was like a human eating brussel sprouts even though there's chocolate in the fridge. Bree sighed, she knew that there were going to be times when there'd only be herbivores. It was part of the veggie vamp lifestyle. No one got a mountain lion each time they hunted. "That's better than nothing," Bree said in response to Carlisle's apology. It was true. It was better to hunt herbivores now than to wait for a carnivore, it wasn't good to get thirsty when there was a human around.
Carlisle suddenly sped off towards the forest, and to a human they would have only seen a blur. Bree's eyes saw him clearly though, and half a second after he ran, she took off after him. It didn't take long for Bree to catch up, even with Carlisle's head start. She was able to move her legs quicker because she was still a newborn and also because human blood was still fresh in her system. When she got up to Carlisle, she didn't push her legs harder to get in front of him - she had no desire to - and ran at the same pace beside him.
Bree nodded in response to the blonde vampire's words. She now knew how important it was to be able to get a hold on herself while she was hunting. She'd already nearly killed Bella twice. Even though she was a newborn, that was no excuse. She was part of the Cullens and needed to be of the same standard when it came to exercising control.
Bree and Carlisle were now a long way from any civilisation, so far out that she was sure there'd be no hikers or campers anywhere. This was the middle of nowhere.
Bree listened to Carlisle's words, and let her senses go. Around her she could hear birds whistling kilometres away, little animals in the trees and on the ground, and various other creatures doing their thing. All these things were irrelevant today. There was only one sound that she was searching for - a beating heart. It wouldn't be too hard for her to smell the blood, either.
"I smell..." Bree tried to put names to the scents around her. "...a herd of animals passed by here not long ago." They were going to the west.

Carlisle tried not to tense up when he noticed her using all of senses. He knew that even though he told her to let everything go and use them, it was still nerve racking, just in case there was a human around. Which Carlisle used his vampire senses to triple check, but still he felt that he could never be to sure. She was doing good, he had noticed the herd as they were coming up here. The woods around them were so green, a blur as they ran. The trees were animated as they ran, because as they ran the wind wind they created went through the leaves and made a ruffling sound.
“good, now follow them, and we shall hunt.” Carlisle started running again, not letting all of his guard down just in case something should happen, which it shouldn't happen. But he still wanted to hunt, he still wanted the thrill of the hunt, to release his responsibilities, but this was a sacrifice that he would make for the family he loved so much. He didn't want anything blowing their secret yet he also didn't want to leave anyone in his family behind. That was one of the reasons the whole family stayed working with jasper, and that was why they were going to stick with helping Bree.
The herd was so near now, all they had to do was leap and feed, sneak attack maybe, but there were so many of course they would be able to catch a few without having to be quiet. “go hunt” he urged Bree.

Bree switched her mind off, an action that she was so used to that she didn't even have to think about it. In that moment she was no longer Bree. She was a hunter. She pushed her legs as hard as she could, and it wasn't long before she sped past Carlisle. Her senses guided her easily through the forest, and she ran down the exact same path that the herd of animals had not long before. Bree didn't know exactly what species they were, but she knew from the smell that they were not carnivorous.
Bree jumped up high into a tree, making no noise as her feet hit the tree branches. Her eyes zeroed in on a herd of deer not even twenty metres away. There exactly ten of them, and two of them were babies. She would have felt remorse for the poor creatures if her body wasn't completely driven by her thirst.
Bree jumped across to the next tree as she got closer to the herd. She'd already chosen a target - the biggest one, with by far the strongest heartbeat. Probably the dominant one or the leader in the group. Several others were also under her radar, because Bree knew that one big deer would not suffice.
Bree was just above the herd now, almost looking down at the biggest one with piercing red eyes. She leaned forward, slightly bending the tree with her weight. She jumped back down to the forest floor, landing directly on top of the deer she had been aiming for. Her teeth ripped through its flesh before it even processed that Bree was on her. She drained the deer's body, finishing it off before she chased down the rest of the herd that had scattered in every direction.
After three adult deer and a younger one, Bree thought that her thirst would be manageable for a few weeks. She looked down at her clothing, a little disappointed in herself that she'd spilt a little blood over one of the shirts that Esme had given to her. Bree was relieved that the Cullens treated clothing as if it were disposable, for she didn't know if the blood would come out of the fabric.

Carlisle watched the newborn intensly. He was still watching her even as he sunk his own fangs into the warm body of one of the doe. The warm liquid trickled down his throat and he breathed in a moan of pleasure, he always loved the hunt and the satisfaction of the quench of his thirst. No it wasnt the complete quench of it, but it was enough to survive. Enough to let him live his life as almost a normal human. 'Ha, being normal is overrated' he thought.
He didnt spill a drop on his clothes and looked up from the deer when he was done as clean as when he had started feeding. Bree on the other hand had spilled a few drops, but that was ok, she was a beginner and clothes didnt cost much, they were replacable.
"Did you get your fill?" Carlisle asked smirking

Bree nodded and smiled in response to Carlisle's question. She was full, and she could feel the blood sloshing around inside her. She'd be good for a few more weeks. She looked at Carlisle, dismayed with how clean he'd been with his hunting. He hadn't even spilt any blood on his clothes, they were completely spotless. Bree didn't know how many years he'd had to perfect his hunting technique, maybe centuries.
"Carlisle, how old are you?" Bree asked, her curiousity getting the best of her. She was of course referring to Carlisle's actual age, not the age his body appeared. How old could he be? He was obviously very composed when blood was around, because she knew he worked as a doctor, and a very good one at that. Bree had no idea how hard he must have worked to be able to be in a hospital full of blood without being even tempted to kill them. She wished to someday have that amount of control.
Bree knew that the Cullen 'children' went to high school, even though they were all much, much older than the rest of their grade. They were all able to resist the blood, even Jasper, and lead a mostly normal life. Bree wanted that, to pick up where she left off with her human life. Of course she wouldn't be able to truly go to high school, because she'd be stuck with the lower grades because she'd be stuck in lower grades to the rest of them. But she wanted to feel like she'd achieved something in life, even if was only to be around humans without wanting to drain their bodies.

Carlisle heard her question, it rang in his ears. He sighed, knowing that they would get to this eventually. And considering it was their first time alone together, why shouldnt she want to know more about him? Curiosity killed the cat... well that was dumb, sometimes it was a good thing to be curious and Carlisle didnt mind answering questions for his children.
"Well lets just say im a few centuries old." He smiled at her. "I know im kinda old, but itme has let me see alot of things, learn alot of things and it has let me learn control. I can barely smell a human's blood now. It doesnt phase me. And with time thats how you can be to." He smiled at her. "Any more questions?" He leaned against a tree "ask away im an open book" He half chuckled.

- - - - - - - - ❧ - - - - - - - - • • • • • we are just M I S G U I D E D G H O S T S - - - - - - - - ❧ - - - - - - - - Bree tried to keep her expression the same instead of seeping into one of complete shock. She had no idea Carlisle was that old. She thought he’d be one century old or maybe a little more, but a few hundred years old? Wow. Bree smiled a little when Carlisle said that one day she could resist human blood just like he could, but it could take years, hundreds of years perhaps. She had no idea how long it had taken Carlisle to tolerate human blood, but then again, she didn’t know much about him at all. When he asked if she had any more questions, Bree said, ”Maybe...” She sighed, and told Carlisle the one question she needed the answer to.
”How long will it take, Carlisle? To be able to resist, I mean?” she said as she looked into Carlisle’s light golden eyes. Bree wished her own eyes would hurry up and change colour so she wouldn’t have to wear stupid contacts if she wanted to go out in public. ” Esme said that it could take a few years, but that everybody’s different. What if I’m too different and I won’t be able to completely resist at all? What if I can’t go anywhere near Bella at all? You know Edward - if my thoughts waver at all around her then he’ll make sure I’m not within a one kilometre radius of her. I won’t be able to go to the wedding! I really want to go, but I don’t want to risk it if you think I shouldn’t go...” Bree shut her mouth when she realised she was rambling, and she sighed and looked down. She never doubted herself this severely, but everything had changed since the fight had ended. Before that she’d been confident, strong and smart. Now she didn’t think so, because her rock was gone.
”So what I really want to ask is,” she said to Carlisle, ”should I go to Bella’s wedding?” She ran her fingers through her now messy hair, probably the most human thing about her. Being a vampire didn’t mean you missed out on bad hair days. Bree didn’t care, but she knew the most superficial member of the Cullen family would hate it.

Carlisle smiled. "my wife is a very smart woman" he said to her. "everyone is different. So i cannot say for certain when you will be able to resist, even with Jasper it is still hard. " He sighed. he didnt know what he could tell her to ease her worries. He really did believe that she would be alright. THat things would work themselves out. Maybe Carlisle was just an optimistic, but he always like to believe the best in people, especially his own children.
"I think you shouldnt worry to much about it, you are already doing just fine, and yes, i think you should come to the wedding, you are apart of the family after all. And you are improving every single day. As long as you keep working on it you should be fine. And there will be plenty of people there that can help you if need be. " He smiled at her. "Look. You need to trust me. I believe in you " He gave her another smile, which he hoped was comforting.
