Bree stared out the window of her bedroom, the light casting subtle diamond patterns on her pale skin. It would be invisible to the human eye, so vampires would be safe to go outside today. Since Bree had found out the truth about vampires and sparkling, she'd always thought it was kind of... what was the correct word for vampires sparkling? Lame. Yes, lame. It was pretty, she must admit, but it would be a lot cooler if vampires turned to ashes rather than becoming walking disco balls.
Bree looked up to the cloud covered sky, and by the position of the sun, she guessed it was around 10am. As it was a Saturday, that meant that Bree would be coming at any second to see Edward. He had left to go for a quick hunt to be extra careful around Bella, like always. Bree was fine though, she had been hunting just days before so the burn in her throat had been diluted significantly. She would be okay to be with Bella alone for the day.
Earlier today, Alice had told Bree of her plans to take Bella to buy a new car. Bree suspected that Alice had already picked out a car for Bella, but she knew that Alice would go for her personal preferences. She didn't think Bella would like a bright pink sports car with no roof. It just wasn't Bella. So against Alice's wishes, Bree was going to let Bella in on her little surprise, and maybe do a little car shopping of their own. Bree knew where all the cash was in the household, and if need be she would borrow some to buy the car. The Cullens wouldn't mind, they wouldn't notice anyway, not with the millions and billions of dollars they had around the place.
As if on queue, Bree heard the familiar sound of the chevy truck's wheel's scraping across dirt and bitchumen road. She could almost sense that Bella was eagerly anticipating seeing Edward, but she wouldn't today. Bree got up from the loveseat in her bedroom and started walking down the stairs just as Bella was getting out of her truck and shutting the door. Bree got to the front door, hearing Bella's heartbeat on the other side. It was almost easy to ignore it now. She still had a few thoughts about what her blood must taste like, but after three or four months surviving on the blood of animals, Bree was able to manage. She opened the door just before Bella did, and smiled, thinking that it might have freaked Bella out a little.
"Hey Bella," Bree greeted her easily, relieved that she was able to mostly ignore the delicious scent that had made her way up her nostrils. It wasn't easy, but it wasn't as hard as it had been those first few days. She believed that she was getting the hang of this vegetarian thing. "Edward's not in, but I know what we can do today." Bree's smile grew wider. She didn't like shopping, but she did like fast cars. Since Bree was stuck at fifteen years old, she wouldn't be able to get her drivers license. Shopping for a new car for Bella was her treat because she wouldn't be able to do it for herself. Today was going to be fun, as long as Bella agreed.
